(VOVWORLD) - The movie “Mai” directed by Tran Thanh scooped four of the top prizes at the Golden Kite Awards 2024 held on Tuesday in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, by the Vietnam Cinematography Association.

The organizing board presented Golden Kite awards to “Linh Anh” by Nguyen Quang Quyet (Best Documentary Film), “Vi Sao Son Doong” by Nguyen Tai Van (Best Scientific Film), “Dan Ca Go” by Nguyen Pham Thanh Dat (Best Short Film), and “Hai Muoi” by Vu Thanh Minh (Best First Feature Film).
Director Vu Thanh Vinh said: “The award is a recognition that gives us motivation to continue making films. We will strive to promote the unique indigenous values of Vietnam such as its culture and the inner world of the Vietnamese people. These beautiful and distinctive qualities must be fully showcased in the movies.”
Phuong Anh Dao was named Best Actress for the movie “Mai”. Tran Thanh and Binh Bong Bot, the writers of “Mai”, won for Best Screenplay.
Duy Hung won Best Actor for the TV series “Gap Em Ngay Nang”, and Thanh Huong won Best Actress for “Cuoc Doi Van Dep Sao”.
Best Supporting Actor awards went to To Dung and Thanh Quy, Best Supporting Actress to Cong Duong and Hong Van, and Best Promising Actor to Trung Kien and Anh Dao.
This year the Golden Kite Awards drew 163 submissions, including 18 feature films, 18 TV series, 41 documentaries, 18 scientific films, 14 cartoons, and 50 short films, along with four works of cinematographic research, theory, and criticism.
