President Zelensky confirmed the information in a social media post. Earlier, the Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, briefly announced the call between the Ukrainian and US leaders. Relations between President Zelensky and President Trump have warmed significantly compared to their tense meeting at the White House in February.

President Trump affirmed that the United States would continue to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. The two leaders had also met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York in September.
