Phu Tho-born businessman makes blood donation campaigns widespread across Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - Nguyen Duc Thuan, the CEO of the High-quality Human Resource Development joint stock company, has been very active in promoting blood donation campaigns and is dedicated to youth startup training. He is also director of the Talent and Startup Training Center, and the founder of the Hanoi Municipal Group of Young Blood Donors.

Nguyen Duc Thuan was born in 1971 in the northern province of Phu Tho. He founded the Hanoi Municipal Group of Young Blood Donors in 1994, which has so far mobilized thousands of young people and collected nearly 500,000 blood units. 

Thuan is also the founder of the Hanoi Rare Blood Types Club, which now has more than 13,000 members and provides rare blood types to patients in need. Thuan has donated his own blood more than 100 times and written 2 books and many other documents on voluntary blood donation campaigns. 

“Blood donation is a good act which does not affect your own health. I first encouraged my relatives and friends to donate blood. Then I had the idea to set up a blood donation club,” said Thuan.

Thuan has created many blood donation models, including 25 Vietnam club, the Red Spring Festival - the largest blood donation drive in Vietnam - and the "Red Blood Drops Campaign", all of which are annual events that promote blood donation nationwide.

“I was really inspired by Nguyen Duc Thuan and I have continued to encourage more people to donate blood and contribute to public healthcare. We want to do something to help people in need. Under Thuan’s guidance, Cau Giay district’s Red Cross Society has managed to collect 29,000 blood units,” said Ms. Bui Thi Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Red Cross Society in Cau Giay district, Hanoi.

Nguyen Duc Thuan is also dedicated to youth training. In 2014, he created the Hanoi Youth Startup Club, part of the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union, which has provided free training to more than 27,000 young people and start up consultation to thousands more in Hanoi. Thuan also actively participates in social work. He has given thousands of free meals and gifts to people in need. Thuan has written more than 100 articles, which have inspired many young people in business startup.

“In 2013, I decided to help startup businesses. Now, around 10,000 of my students have become businessmen, many of them successful,” said Thuan.

Nguyen Duc Thuan has received several titles and awards for his great contribution to the community, including the “For the Youth” Medal, the “Good people, good deeds” title, and several certificates of merit from various authorities.
