The family of Quang Thi Nhat in Phuoc Dan town was happy to receive a new house last month. It was built with State support, according to a family member, Dang Nang Huy.

"The local authorities and Fatherland Front gave us about 3,500 USD and we borrowed an additional 3,000 USD to build the house. Were deeply grateful to the State for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses," Huy recalled.

Nguyen Van Uc and his wife also benefit from the Government’s program to replace substandard houses.

Uc told VOV, "With the State’s financial support of 3,500 USD, my family borrowed more money to build a solid, spacious house. It will be completed by the end of this month."

To date, 16 households in Phuoc Dan town have been provided with housing support.

In Thuan Bac district Raglai people were delighted to obtain financial aid to build a new house.

Chamalea Hung couldn’t hide his joy when he talked to VOV, Im very happy to have received State support to replace my makeshift house.”

Patau Axah Ngoan, Deputy Chairman of Phuoc Chien commune’s People's Committee, said that, in addition to Government funding, families also contribute their own resources. Local authorities have come up with multiple ways to encourage mutual support.

"Everyone contributes what they can. We began implementing the program in March, and now the foundations and walls of nearly all the houses have been completed," said Ngoan.

To give people in difficult circumstances a solid place to live and work, the Ninh Thuan administration is mobilizing all available resources from organizations, individuals, and the business community.

In March, Ninh Thuan launched a campaign to completely eliminate substandard houses by the end of June. 1,500 homes will be built and 500 will be repaired, paid for by 1.7 million USD in social contributions.

According to Le Van Binh, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the new houses receive an average of 2,300 USD from the State budget and an additional 770 USD in community donations.

"We aim to raise 870,000 USD from different sources. Weve also mobilized the armed forces, youth union members, and other volunteers to contribute their labor, and have encouraged the community to support sustainable housing for those in need," said Binh.

Ninh Thuan is racing to meet its goal. Despite the rapid pace of construction, the quality of each house is the top priority. Local authorities are closely monitoring the process to ensure that every house is sturdy and gives its occupants a safe place to live.
