The municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee reported Sunday that it had received strong support from agencies, organizations, individuals, and businesses citywide for the program. Thu Duc city and district authorities have also mobilized funds to repair or build nearly 900 houses for low-income people, at a total cost of nearly 1.9 million USD.

According to Ms. Đặng Thị Lý, Vice Chairwoman of the Phu Nhuan district Fatherland Front, the program has given many poor families a more stable life.

Ly said: "Businesses are encouraged to sponsor households in need. We have worked closely with local authorities to expedite construction permits ahead of schedule and offer free blueprints to ease the burden on beneficiaries."

Ms. Hồ Ngọc Phụng, a resident of District 8, said: “I’m incredibly happy to finally have a spacious and comfortable home. I’m deeply thankful for the support.”

Ms. Chiêm Lợi Hồng is another resident of District 8: “My house was in terrible condition. It leaked when it rained, flooded constantly, and there was nowhere dry to sleep. Now I can live comfortably in a solid brick house.”

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has committed to allocating funds this year to assist in removing substandard housing in Ca Mau, Kon Tum, Ben Tre, and Lao Cai province.
