As stipulated by the loan contract between Hanoi FC and Heerenveen, Van Hau is allowed to play for SEA Games 30 in the Philippines later this year.

Heerenveen has agreed to release Van Hau for World Cup 2022 qualifiers and to summon with U23 team for the Philippines.

But fans are now upset with the latest news  that  the 20-year-old won’t be able to play at the AFC U23 Championship in Thailand early next year.

“The finals of AFC U23 Championship doesn’t belong to FIFA Day so SC Heerenveen will not release its player. I will not participate in the tournament, but coach Park Hang-seo will have a suitable plan without me, "said Doan Van Hau.

AFC U23 Championship  is an important tournament because its results will be counted to win a ticket to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Van Hau’s absence is a great loss for Park’s team. He delivered impressive performance last year and assisted Quang Hai in finding the net of U23 South Korea.

In the qualifying round in March, Van Hau and his teammates excellently won three matches over Brunei, Indonesia, and Thailand to advance to the finals.
