Earth Hour aims to raise awareness and encourage all people to take action to save energy toward a greener economy. Last year, Vietnam saved 428,000 kWh during the one-hour lights-off event.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the energy sector currently accounts for approximately 70% of the total greenhouse gas emission, which is estimated to rise to 80% in 2030.
The Ministry said that without decisive actions from localities, businesses, and individuals to reduce emissions, it’s difficult for Vietnam to obtain its commitment of net-zero emissions by 2050.
