Ha Giang honored as Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination in 2024

(VOVWORLD) - Ha Giang province has been named Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination in 2024 by World Travel Awards (WTA).

The honor was presented Tuesday evening at the World Travel Awards ceremony in Manila, the Philippines.

The awards evaluate criteria such as cultural preservation and sustainable development of natural resources and natural ecosystems.

According to the WTA, Ha Giang province, which enjoys a favorable geographical location, beautiful natural landscapes, mild weather all year round, and outstanding tourism resources like the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark and unique ethnic minority cultures, has always paid attention to preserving and promoting its advantages in an organized way.

Ms. Trieu Thi Tinh, deputy head of Ha Giang’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said: “Last year, Ha Giang was honored by the World Travel Awards as Asia's Leading Emerging Tourism Destination in 2023. This year, the province was once again voted Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination in recognition of its efforts to build its image and develop in the right direction with a focus on sustainability. This will motivate us to continue working to elevate the province’s regional and global position.”

Ha Giang, located on Vietnam’s northernmost border, is home to the Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark, as well as many heritages and internationally recognized landscapes. Ha Giang is on the list of ideal destinations of prestigious travel magazines around the world. The New York Times listed Ha Giang as one of the most most attractive destinations in the world in 2023.
