“In addition to the Council’s regular agendas, Vietnam will promote four initiatives. The most important will take place on April 19: an open discussion chaired by a high-ranking Vietnamese leader on how to increase cooperation between the UN and regional and sub-regional organisations to boost dialogue, trust-building, and prevent conflicts,” said Mr. Quy.
“Another important event will be an open debate on dealing with bombs and mines, slated for April 8. An open debate on April 28 on protecting civilians and another open debate on April 14 on preventing sexual violence in conflict areas will be held during Vietnam’s Chairmanship month,” he said.
Ambassador Quy will chair a press conference on the Council’s agenda at UN headquarters at the beginning of April.
Vietnam held the UNSC Chair in January 2020.
