High on the agenda were also maintaining political security, social order, and safety in order to improve the lives of coastal residents and encourage them to participate in safeguarding national marine sovereignty.

Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Academy and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council urged Nam Dinh province to work out a coordinated plan for marine economic development, invest more in infrastructure, and tap local potentials and strengths.

Nam Dinh has a 72-km coastline stretching through 3 districts and 80 communes and towns. The coastal areas have become a driver of economic growth in the province, contributing more than  25% of the total production value annually.
