Hon Doc Island, the largest of the 16 islands in Hai Tac (Pirate) Archipelago, is the last stop of their Lunar New Year visit to Vietnam's southwestern seas and islands. It is located near the Vietnam-Cambodia maritime border, an area of many important sea routes connecting the two countries.
Captain Le Duc Anh, head of the Radar Station 625 of Battalion 551 under the Naval Region 5, said, "This visit is a big encouragement for our people and forces here on the island. We pledge to stay united, overcome difficulties, and work closely with other forces in the area to protect Vietnam's sovereignty over its seas and islands."

The delegation, who also include local authorities and business representatives from across the country, aboard Ships 527 and 528, crossed more than 365 nautical miles (over 650 km) over six days (January 9-14). They visited Phu Quoc, Tho Chu, Hon Khoai, Hon Chuoi, Nam Du, and Hon Doc islands.
In his review of the visit, Rear Admiral Ngo Van Thanh, Political Commissar of Naval Region 5, said, “The gifts and words of encouragement to islanders and officers stationed in these remote areas are both a token of appreciation and a promise by people from the mainland that we will always be by your side. Our forces and people nationwide will work with you to overcome all difficulties and fulfill all assigned tasks to help safeguard the Fatherland's sovereignty over its seas and islands."
