France, the host nation, came third, followed by Australia, the UK, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Team Vietnam are now pinning hopes on the two athletes who have yet to compete: Trinh Van Vinh in weightlifting and Nguyen Thi Huong in canoeing.

Vinh will compete in the men's under-61kg weightlifting category on Wednesday. The following day, Nguyen Thi Huong will compete in the women's single canoe 200m heat.
