Indian PM Modi to visit China for first time in 7 years
(VOVWORLD) - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China for the first time in more than seven years, for a summit of the multilateral Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) that will begin on August 31, a government source said Wednesday.

Modi’s trip is a further sign of New Delhi’s diplomatic thaw with Beijing, which began as a result of Prime Minister Modi’s talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of a BRICS summit in Russia in October 2024.
Modi’s last trip to China was in June 2018, but a subsequent military clash along their disputed Himalayan border in 2020 damaged Sino-Indian ties.
