A month ahead of Tet, the shopping atmosphere in Hanoi is already lively. Many are taking the opportunity to browse products, compare prices, and purchase gifts early. Nguyen Hai Anh of Nghia Do ward, Cau Giay district, said: “This year, I find the designs quite diverse, and the prices are reasonable, not overly expensive. For instance, the gift boxes in my cart are affordable, costing around 100,000 VND (approximately 4 USD) per box. They contain a variety of products suitable for both adults and children, making them a family gift.”
During the year's biggest shopping season, supermarkets have collaborated with suppliers to ensure a steady supply of quality goods at fair prices. Nguyen Tien Duong, Director of the MM Mega Market Thang Long Supermarket Center, said: “To meet the shopping demand for the upcoming Lunar New Year, we have increased our stock by 10-15% compared to last year’s Tet and by 20-25% compared to normal daily quantities. We are implementing the Government’s price stabilization policies and working with suppliers to maintain stable prices. However, there are slight price increases in items such as coffee and tea.”
In Ho Chi Minh City, supermarkets have stocked their shelves and introduced promotional programs to stimulate holiday buying. The municipal Department of Industry and Trade organized its annual supply-demand connection program earlier than usual, with 700 enterprises from 45 participating provinces and cities.
Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, said: “The supply-demand connection program usually takes place in October and November, but this year, we initiated it in September. This earlier timeline allows distribution systems in Ho Chi Minh City to explore new products, conduct market research, and negotiate with manufacturers to ensure goods are available on supermarket shelves in time for Tet.”
With an ample supply of goods and stable prices, consumers have plenty of opportunities to enjoy a prosperous, economical, and safe Tet shopping experience. Meanwhile, domestic manufacturers have adjusted their plans to align with market demand, ensuring a sufficient supply for Tet.
