(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s National Digital Transformation Day on October 10 is a milestone in technology advancement and a celebration of innovation, creativity, and aspiration for progress. Policy brings tangible results

The key to implementing national digital transformation lies in a firm legal framework. A series of policies and decisions in recent years have demonstrated Vietnam’s strong will and long-term strategic vision for digital transformation. The most notable is the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

The resolution serves as a strategic lever, affirming the inseparable relationship of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. It lays the foundation for the Government, ministries, and localities to formulate concrete action programs, shape a shared vision, define clear roadmaps, and prioritize resources for investment.

From this firm foundation, Vietnam’s digital transformation has achieved impressive and measurable results. The digital economy has become a key driver of national growth. Revenue in the digital technology industry in September was nearly 48% higher than in the same period last year. Hardware and electronics exports rose 30% in the first nine months of the year, and the digital business ecosystem continues to expand. Statistics from international financial institutions show that Vietnam has the fastest-growing digital economy in Southeast Asia.

"On the digital side, Vietnam has the ability to leapfrog other countries when it comes to the digital space. You have the fastest growing digital economy in ASEAN. You're number two behind Indonesia when it comes to the number of digital transactions and digital shopping perspective. You have a young population that's willing to accept technology. I think the future looks right," said Tim Evans,Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Vietnam.

E-government has seen the most significant progress, bringing direct benefits to the people and optimizing State operations. As of September 2025, 40% of administrative dossiers were handled online, up more than 2.6% from the same period last year. In September, more than 1.6 million electronic documents were transmitted through the national document exchange platform. These figures are clear evidence of Vietnam’s determination and progress in advancing digital transformation.

Accelerating toward Vietnams digital future

With these achievements, Vietnam is steadily moving toward its 2030 goal of becoming a developed digital nation and one of the world’s top 30 countries in digital transformation. National Digital Transformation Day 2025 is an occasion to review achievements and to call for acceleration, which will require the collective effort of society.

We must push harder and make stronger breakthroughs to bring real benefits to the people. National digital transformation is a massive and strategic task, which must start with concrete actions toward specific goals. There must be unity in perception and action to unleash the combined strength of the entire political system,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at the inauguration ceremony of the National Data Center.

The 1st doi moi (renewal) in 1986 helped Vietnam escape poverty. The current 2nd doi moi will help Vietnam avoid the middle-income trap and become a developed nation. Digital transformation, together with science, technology, and innovation, will drive this process.
