(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam must take faster and bolder steps, while forging its own path in developing strategic technologies to narrow the gap with the world under the principle of “catching up, advancing together, and moving ahead”, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.

At a forum on promoting innovation and developing strategic technologies held on Thursday at Vietnam International Innovation Expo 2025 (VIIE 2025), Mr. Dung said Vietnam has always regarded science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as “golden keys” — vital factors in overcoming the middle-income trap and achieving the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2045.
To build an innovation ecosystem and realize Vietnam’s ambition to become a leading hub for science, technology, and innovation, Deputy PM Dung called on local authorities and Vietnamese experts here and abroad to work with global tech corporations and international organizations.
This, he said, will help harness advanced technologies, propose strategies and roadmaps for industry development, and leverage innovation networks as an “extended arm” of the Government to generate new values and future opportunities.
“To make a breakthrough, we must rely on knowledge, technology, talent, and pioneering institutions. We must take the initiative in engaging in every stage of the global value chain, aligning with international standards, and integrating with the universal language of technology,” said Mr. Dung.
On this occasion, initiatives to realize the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on the development of science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation were announced.
