Green production enables Vietnamese goods to penetrate international market

(VOVWORLD) - The Export Forum 2024, themed "Connecting the International Supply Chains," concluded recently in Ho Chi Minh City. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the forum emphasized the growing importance of green production in the face of climate change and the urgent need for sustainable development. Delegates acknowledged that green production is not just a trend but a critical pathway for Vietnam to advance toward a sustainable economy.

Economists say that to achieve sustainable export growth Vietnamese businesses must adopt green production practices and high-standard technologies and get more involved in the global supply chain.

In response to stricter environmental regulations in developed economies, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang said: "Green production is no longer optional but inevitable for all Vietnamese businesses. Government agencies and ministries are introducing green production criteria across industries."

Many Vietnamese companies are already participating in the green production movement by using natural raw materials, non-toxic chemicals, and investing in modern, international-standard production lines, machinery, and technology. They have also installed renewable energy systems, improved energy and water efficiency, and implemented quality, safety, hygiene, and waste management systems that meet green and clean production standards.

A representative of the Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company said that meeting strict quality standards and pursuing green production have enabled his company to be confident about its prices while integrating into the global supply chain.

Vo Trung Hieu, Director of the company’s International Business Department said: "Our approach involves sustainable development strategies and shared resources. While our prices may be slightly higher, the sustainable values we offer are well-understood and appreciated by our long-term customers."

As green consumption and living trends grow, transitioning to a green production model is seen as the best solution for Vietnamese businesses. It will help them stay ahead of new consumption trends, integrate into global value chains, foster production and business growth, and enable deeper penetration into major markets like the US, Europe, and Japan.
