(VOVWORLD) - During the spreading COVID-19 outbreak and the social distancing that has been mandated in response, the Vietnamese government has been helping struggling people stabilize their lives.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued a fourth directive on reducing the electricity bills of pandemic-hit customers.The total reduction this time will be nearly 109 million USD. This will be Electricity of Vietnam’s fourth price reduction in 2 years, with the total amounting to 710 million USD.

The Government will waive 100 percent of electricity bills for certain concentrated quarantine facilities and has asked telecommunications service providers to reduce fees for their customers.

Cities and provinces nationwide are also considering reducing clean water fees for customers, particularly those directly affected by the pandemic or in locked down areas.

Early last month, the Prime Minister signed a resolution authorizing 12 aid packages worth 1.1 billion USD for workers and others affected by the pandemic.

Minister of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said, 'These aid packages will reach workers who have been laid off due to quarantine and lockdown. They will receive 1 million VND (45USD) each. Those who lost their job between May 31 and December 31 will receive 3.7 million VND (160 USD), which is equivalent to minimum wage.'
