(VOVWORLD) - Taking care of disadvantaged people and ensuring that they have a happy Tet is a tradition of the Vietnamese people. This year, people are facing many difficulties because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so authorities at all levels have paid special attention to needy people.

The leaders of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front paid Tet visits and gave gifts to encourage soldiers, social policy families, national contributors, and workers in difficult circumstances across the country.
Social security policy cares for people’s Tet
During a visit to Lao Cai province, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue asked the provincial Party Committee, authorities, armed forces, and well-off people to take good care of policy families, national contributors, poor households, and people in difficult circumstances, so that no one is left behind during the Lunar New Year.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paid a Tet visit to ethnic people in Cao Bang province, where he said the Vietnamese Party and State always pay attention to and direct the authorities at all levels help people celebrate Tet joyfully, healthily, and safely.
“I ask the Party Committees and authorities at all level to carry out practical activities to care for the poor, workers, policy beneficiaries, and unfortunate people, so they can enjoy a happy New Year and no one will be left behind,” Mr. Chinh said.
Paying a pre-Tet visit to policy families and needy people in Hai Duong province, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said that taking care of the people’s Tet is a meaningful activity, illustrating the tradition of great national unity and mutual solidarity and compassion and implementing Vietnam’s social security policy.:
“To prepare for a joyful, healthy, safe, and sufficient Lunar New Year, I ask the Party Committee, the Fatherland Front, and mass organizations to thoroughly implement the Party Secretariat’s Directive on mobilizing resources to perform social security work, and take care of the material and cultural life of the people. Every family and every individual should enjoy the spring and welcome Tet happily, especially policy families, people in difficult circumstances, and workers in economic zones, and those who have lost their jobs.”
Tet of Kindness 2023
The program “Tet of Kindness 2023” in Kien Giang province was held over the last two weeks. The provincial Red Cross Society raised money and gave 20,000 gifts to needy families, Agent Orange/Dioxin victims, people with disabilities, and natural disaster victims, and COVID-19 victims.
Gia Lai province spent 640,000 USD to help 25,000 needy people and mobilized resources to organize a program called “Give gifts-Enjoy Tet” to tighten community bonds.
Cao Xuan Nam, Vice President of Gia Lai province’s Red Cross Society, said: “The Red Cross Society assigns tasks to local units and organizes activities to raise money from organizations, businesses, and individuals. We give Tet gifts to needy people so everyone can have a happy Tet.”
Ca Mau province has directed Party organizations, authorities, the Fatherland Front, and social organizations to implement social security policies and social welfare, and uphold the spirit of mutual support during Tet.
Khanh Hoa province delivered 1,700 tons of rice to 120,000 needy people and gave more than 1.15 million USD to poor people, senior citizens over 100 years old, people with disabilities, child patients with HIV/AIDS, and people in social protection centers. Khanh Hoa province’s Fatherland Front also helped 20,000 unfortunate families.
With the motto “Don't let any person with difficulties live without care and Tet gifts", sectors and localities across Vietnam are implementing social security policies and upholding the humanitarian tradition of the Vietnamese nation.
