Meaningful movement reflects Vietnam's tradition of solidarity and compassion

(VOVWORLD) - The movement "Good People, good deeds – Joining hands to build a compassionate community” launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society in late 2022 has provided support to those in difficult circumstances, spread kindness, and contributed to a united, compassionate community.

Provinces and cities across Vietnam issued implementation plans shortly after the initiative was launched. According to the mid-term report of the 11th National Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society in the 2022-2027 period, 14 out of 63 provinces and cities have organized conferences to recognize and honor exemplary individuals engaged in humanitarian activities. These efforts have inspired others to participate in charitable initiatives, forming a widespread support network.

Activities of the “Good people, good deeds” movement have been integrated into various humanitarian efforts, such as the annual "Humanitarian Month," the "Compassionate Tet" campaign, and the "Each Organization, Each Individual Associated with a Humanitarian Address" program. Particularly, some provinces, such as Tuyen Quang and Binh Thuan, have successfully implemented "Compassionate Community" models. In these communities, 100% of impoverished and disadvantaged individuals have received assistance through different ways.

The success of the "Good People, good deeds – Joining hands to build a compassionate community” movement underscores the Vietnam Red Cross Society's role as a key connector and coordinator in humanitarian efforts. Red Cross staff, volunteers, and youth at all levels have consistently identified, and honored exemplary individuals and groups, linking these examples to larger political, social, and government initiatives. Diverse support methods include material, emotional, intellectual, and physical assistance, as well as innovative approaches to mobilizing resources and providing aid. These efforts reflect the spirit of leaving no one behind.

Each year, approximately 18 million disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals receive support through the movement. The tangible impact of this initiative can be seen through hundreds of humanitarian projects, charitable homes, scholarships, and community kitchens, showcasing the Vietnamese people's long-standing tradition of solidarity and mutual support.

From 2025 to 2027, the movement will continue to expand, reaffirming the Vietnam Red Cross Society’s mission to promote humanitarian values and compassion throughout society.
