(VOVWORLD) - 84,000 people are expected to attend the opening ceremony of the 29th Southeast Asian Games on Saturday at Bukit Jalil stadium in Malaysia.
Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sports YB Brig Gen Khairy Jamaluddin said the event is also an opportunity to honor Malaysian and ASEAN sports legends.
By Saturday, the Vietnamese team had won 3 silver and 1 bronze medals at the Games.
During a visit to the Vietnamese athletes, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said unity is the key to success.
“We should be united for a shared goal and bring glory for Vietnam. We should try our best to live up to our people’s expectation,” Thien noted.
