AFC U23 Asian Cup: Vietnam advances to quarterfinals
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnamese football fans were ecstatic as the national U23 team defeated tournament hosts Saudi Arabia 1-0 in their final group-stage match early on Tuesday to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the AFC U23 Asian Cup.

The first half was a tight affair, with Saudi Arabia U23 team controlling possession and creating several dangerous opportunities. After a goalless first half, Saudi Arabians kept increased pressure with central attacking combinations and long-range shots, but all were saved by the Vietnamese goalkeeper.
The 64th minute was the turning point of the match when Dinh Bac, who had come on as a substitute, received the ball from a teammate, broke into the penalty area, and unleashed a decisive left-footed shot to open the scoring 1-0. After conceding the goal, Saudi Arabia launched a full-scale attack but were unable to change.
Ultimately, team Vietnam secured their place in the next round as Group A winners with 9 points. Saudi Arabia U23 team were eliminated. Jordan secured the remaining Group A spot after winning 1-0 against Kyrgyzstan.
