Earlier Snowden, who revealed sensitive information related to US spying and is currently living in Russia, sent a letter to Brazil’s government offering help in a probe of US spying on Brazil. In a letter published in the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper, Snowden said he is willing to assist appropriate and lawful investigations but stressed that this can happen only if Brazil offers him permanent refugee status.
Meanwhile, White House spokesman Jay Carney denied rumors that the US will grant amnesty to Snowden if he hands over stolen CIA documents.
