(VOVworld) - Central African Republic’s interim President, Alexandre- Ferdinand Nguendet, called on Thursday for dialogue with ex-Seleka rebels and anti-Balaka militia to restore security in the country.

Nguendet said a national unity government will be formed after the announcement of a new transition president before the end of the week by the National Transition Council (CNT). The CNT has been meeting since Tuesday to choose a new president following Djotodia's resignation last week during an extraordinary summit of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) in N'Djamena.

The Central African Republic has become politically unstable since President Francois Bozize was toppled by Seleka rebels last March and Djotodia became the country’s interim president. Although the rebel forces were dispersed, Djotodia could not prevent riots after the militia made nearly 1 million people - one fifth of the total population - refugees. Last December alone, violence claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people.
