China formally congratulates Joe Biden on election as US President
(VOVWORLD) -China on Friday extended congratulations to Democratic candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris after the US media projected their win the US presidential election 2020.

Addressing a regular press conference on Friday afternoon, spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Wang Webin said “China respects the American people’s choice and extend congratulations to Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris. We also understand that the US election result will be decided in accordance with US laws and procedures.”
A VOV correspondent in Beijing said the move shows China’s acknowledgement of Joe Biden's victory in the race to the White House against incumbent President Donald Trump. The Chinese Foreign Ministry's congratulations to Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris while Mr. Trump has not admitted defeat is a notable development in the China-US relationship.
