(VOVWORLD) - Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday announced the extension of their 20-year-old Treaty of Good Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation.

The announcement followed the two leaders’ online meeting Monday, 3 days before the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.
The treaty was signed in July, 2001 in Moscow.
Russia and China agreed to automatically extend the treaty for another 5 years this March.
