Christmas cheer spreads nationwide

(VOVWORLD) - The Christmas cheer is spreading across Vietnam.  In Hanoi, churches and the Old Quarter have been transformed into wonderlands, drawing a throng of daily visitors with nativity scenes, giant Christmas trees, and dazzling lights and festive decorations.

Hanoi’s Ham Long church finished decorations one month ago, according to Archbishop PhilipPhe Vu Van Toi.

"We began preparing for Christmas a month ago. This year’s holiday season is more exciting and the church has become an attraction for Christians and other people," said Toi.

Nguyen Thi Nguyet from Ba Dinh district in Hanoi said, "This year’s celebration is more enjoyful than last year. All the churches I’ve visited are beautifully decorated."

Christmas items in Thanh Tam diocese in the Central Highlands city of Buon Ma Thuot are selling like hot cakes. Local resident Vu Thanh Tuan, said,

"We started preparing for Christmas two weeks ago. Ornaments, Christmas trees, and lanterns have almost sold out."
