Coronavirus pandemic still accelerating: WHO chief
(VOVWORLD) - The novel coronavirus pandemic is still accelerating and its effects will be felt for decades, World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told an online conference on Monday.

He said the pandemic is much more than a health crisis, it is an economic crisis, a social crisis, and in many countries a political crisis. He warned that the greatest threat facing the world is not the virus itself, but the lack of global solidarity and leadership. None of us will be safe until all of us are safe, he added.
Last week, the WHO warned of a new and dangerous phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, with people tired of lockdowns and ready to go out again despite the fact that the virus is still spreading. There is still no effective vaccine and scientists say they are still learning unexpected things about the virus.
