The statement said the Convention provides France, the EU, and other signatory countries a shared framework for addressing cross-border cyber violations. It complements the Council of Europe’s Budapest Convention, further strengthening international cooperation in combatting cybercrime.
According to the French delegation, the Convention enables national authorities to work more closely in information exchange, joint investigations, and facilitating the arrest, extradition, and prosecution of cybercriminals worldwide. It offers practical tools to respond to increasingly sophisticated digital threats. The Permanent Mission said early implementation of the Convention, with the engagement of civil society and the private sector, will be crucial to effectively addressing the challenges posed by cybercrime.
