The Can Tho Declaration covers the delegates’ consensus following three thematic discussions: "Francophone Cooperation in Sustainable Agriculture," "The Francophone Community and Food Security," and "Sharing Experiences in Climate Change Response." 

The Declaration underscores the significance of the agricultural sector in member countries of the Francophone Parliamentary Union (APF) and its intersection with global challenges. It highlights the pivotal role of parliaments and parliamentarians in shaping policies and fostering multilateral international cooperation to promote sustainable agriculture and combat climate change.

The Declaration also points to the interdependence between agriculture and pressing global issues such as climate change, ecosystem degradation, resource scarcity, and social inequality, calling for an accelerated shift to sustainable agricultural practices, enhanced food security, and the urgent implementation of climate response measures. 

The Declaration calls for the reinforcement of multilateral cooperation at all levels, including partnerships between parliaments and governments, North-South and South-South collaborations, as well as tripartite, quadrilateral, and public-private partnerships. It stresses the importance of engaging all sectors while protecting vulnerable groups most affected by climate change impacts.
