Vietnam, Brazil eye 15 billion USD bilateral trade by 2030

(VOVWORLD) -President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday attended the Vietnam-Brazil Economic Forum in Hanoi, where President Lula da Silva proposed that both sides create conditions for bilateral trade to reach 15 billion USD by 2030 from the current modest amount of 7.7 billion USD.

Introducing Brazil’s cooperation potentials in aviation, biofuel, sports, agriculture, among others, Lula da Silva called on businesses of the two countries connect with each other and deepen the Vietnam-Brazil Strategic Partnership. He also suggested that the two sides study the establishment of joint funds to promote investment and develop science and technology.

Prime Minister Chinh said that businesses on both sides need to increase investment in green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy as well as science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. He asked Brazilian investors to continue their support and create conditions for Vietnamese businesses to participate more deeply and substantially in global supply chains. The PM said he hopes that the Brazilian Government will support and promote the early launch of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Mercosur bloc.

“We guarantee that the foreign-invested economic sector is an important part of the Vietnamese economy; protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of investors; ensure political stability, social order and safety; as well as institutions, mechanisms and policies to attract investment.”

PM Chinh raised the idea of "three togethers", including together listening and understanding between enterprises, the State and the people; together sharing vision and action to develop quickly and sustainably; and together working, winning, enjoying benefits, and sharing joy, happiness and pride.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister called on Brazilian businesses to trust and work closely with Vietnam to unceasingly contribute to the prosperous development of the two countries and the bilateral strategic partnership.

Earlier Saturday, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, together with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the high-ranking delegation of Brazil, visited the Vietnam Military History Museum.
