(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a visionary leader and an ingenious and clear-minded diplomat who always valued relationships with countries worldwide, former Party General Secretary and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith told Vietnam News Agency reporters in Vientiane on Monday.

He highlighted Mr. Trong’s role in boosting Laos-Vietnam-Cambodia relations through high-level meetings of their leaders, which he said has elevated the political ties among the three countries and advanced their state-to-state relations in the new era. These efforts have enhanced the role and reputation of the Vietnamese Party and State on the global and regional arena, according to former Lao leader.
In an interview with a Voice of Vietnam reporter, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Egypt Salah Adly said the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong is a great loss not only the people and country of Vietnam, but also of communists, progressive and peace-loving forces around the world.
“Under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam has transformed from a poor country to a prominent economy. Mr. Trong succeeded in his flexible bamboo diplomacy, which has helped Vietnam establish good cooperative relationships with the rest of the world, including major countries. Vietnam does not take sides nor side with any country against another country. Vietnam supports multilateralism, supports the United Nations and genuine international organizations. We believe Vietnam will continue to implement the development vision of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to reap more great achievements,” Salah Adly said.
From Italy, Dr. Sandra Scagliotti, a researcher of Vietnam and Honorary Consul of Vietnam in the Piedmont and Liguria regions, said that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a leader with particularly outstanding contributions to national construction and development, improving people's lives, and building the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Honorary Senator and Honorary President of the France-Vietnam Friendship Association (AAFV), Hélène Luc, affirmed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will live forever in Vietnam's history, as an example for the younger generation.
