Government tenure 2021-2026: Economic breakthroughs, per capita income of 5,000 USD

(VOVWORLD) -The size of Vietnam’s economy increased from 346 billion USD to 510 billion USD, rising to 32nd in the world, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said, adding per capita income reached about 5,000 USD, putting Vietnam in the group of upper middle-income countries.

On behalf of the Government, Deputy PM Binh presented a report reviewing the 2021-2026 term performance on Monday at the National Assembly’s 10th session.

“Despite facing epidemics, natural disasters and global economic fluctuations, Vietnam still maintained a high growth rate. Strategic infrastructure made breakthroughs. Key projects such as Long Thanh airport and 500kV line 3 were accelerated. Digital infrastructure developed strongly, Vietnam's mobile internet speed was in the top 20 in the world,” said the Deputy PM.

The report emphasized that the Government current term has been united, acted resolutely, and fulfilled the assigned tasks, resulting in the stable macro economy and high growth.

Many backlog projects have been completely resolved, unlocking important resources for socio-economic development, according to the Deputy PM. The Government has promulgated a comprehensive program for state administrative reform for the 2021-2030 period and a program to reduce and simplify administrative procedures concerning production and business activities.

The Government report also stated solutions that need to be implemented aggressively, including mechanisms and policies for effectively unlocking resources, strict management of the real estate, gold, and bond markets, innovation, and quality human resources.
