(VOVWORLD) -Hamas chief Khalil al-Hayya said on Saturday that Hamas had agreed to a ceasefire proposal it received two days ago from Egypt and Qatar, key mediators in Gaza ceasefire negotiations.

However, al-Hayya emphasized that Hamas would not disarm if Israel continued to occupy Palestinian territories.
"Two days ago, we received a proposal from mediators in Egypt and Qatar. We dealt with it positively and approved it," Hamas chief Khalil al-Haya said in a televised address.
His statement comes amid renewed tensions in the Gaza Strip after the Israeli military resumed operations in the Palestinian territories, resulting in numerous casualties.
