The tour traces nearly a century of cultural life through nine touchpoints clustered in the Pearl Island–Ngu Xa area.
The journey opens at Quan Thanh Temple, a special national monument and one of the Four Guardian Temples of the ancient Thang Long Citadel. It then continues to Thuy Trung Tien Temple, where Mother Goddess worship—one of Vietnam’s most prominent folk beliefs—is practiced in its original ritual setting.
Culinary heritage comes into focus at the Pho–Bun–Soi (Noodles) tram carriage, where visitors explore the “soul” of Hanoi’s food culture through its iconic noodle dishes, with pho as the defining highlight.
At Café–Coffee, attention turns to Vietnamese coffee culture, inviting guests to experience traditional brewing methods, including a hands-on introduction to making salted coffee.
The tour then shifts to everyday memories, recreating the rhythms of daily life during the subsidy period. Kitchen–Cabinet–Tray presents simple meals of cassava and sweet potatoes alongside typical dishes and drinks of the era, while the Subsidy-Period Apartment reconstructs familiar living spaces of Hanoi households in the last century.
Craft traditions are highlighted at the Traditional Bronze Casting Exhibition House, showcasing the enduring skills of Ngu Xa artisans.
Agricultural roots come to the fore at Rice–Paddy–Grain, where visitors learn about rice cultivation, sample rice-based foods and drinks, and try their hand at making traditional Hang Than young sticky rice cakes.
The journey concludes in an atmosphere of quiet elegance at Tea and the Eight Elegant Traditions, a space dedicated to both traditional and contemporary tea culture.

Nguyen Dan Huy, Deputy Chairman of Ba Dinh ward People’s Committee, said, “Through these nine touchpoints, visitors can experience the characteristics of Hanoi. The journey helps tourists envision who Hanoians are—how they live, work, and study—and how they preserve, safeguard, and promote the capital’s values. We connect historical sites around the lake with two-storey tram cars, and each space preserves and tells the stories of Hanoi’s culture and history.”
In 2026, Hanoi’s tourism sector aims to welcome 35.8 million visitors, up 6% compared to 2025, including 8 million international arrivals. Total tourism revenue is expected to reach USD 6 billion.
