(VOVWORLD) - The US Embassy on Friday hosted a reception in Hanoi to mark the 249th anniversary of US Independence Day (July 4) and the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the US (July 11).

Speaking at the event, US Ambassador Marc Knapper highlighted the progress made in bilateral ties over the past three decades. He reaffirmed Washington’s readiness to work with Hanoi to further deepen mutually-beneficial cooperation on the basis of respecting each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political systems.
Representing the Vietnamese Government, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said Vietnam views the US as a partner of strategic importance. He applauded the US commitment to supporting a strong, independent, self-reliant, and prosperous Vietnam, and expressed hope that both countries will continue to closely coordinate in implementing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.
