(VOVWORLD) -"Red Rain", a Vietnamese war drama film and the biggest box-office hit in Vietnam in 2025, has been aired on national TV to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22).
The film premiered on Saturday evening on the Vietnam National Defense Television channel and continued to be broadcast on Vietnam Television’s VTV3 and VTV8 channels on Sunday evening.
An adaptation of the novel of the same name by Chu Lai, "Red Rain" portrays the brutal 81-day defense of Quang Tri Citadel in 1972, a pivotal battle of the war to liberate the south and reunify the country. Directed by Dang Thai Huyen, the film featuring many young and veteran actors, became Vietnam's all-time highest-grossing film.
Dao Hong Phuc was emotional after watching "Red Rain" in Hanoi for the third time, saying “The first time I watched the movie "Red Rain" was at the cinema with my parents. Recently, my school organized a screening for the whole school, which was the second time. And today is the third time I've seen this film. I still find it very good.”
"Red Rain" won the Golden Lotus Award at the Vietnam Film Festival in late November 2025.
