Ho Chi Minh City’s planning for 2021-2030, vision to 2050 announced
(VOVWORLD) -The Ho Chi Minh City planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050 was announced in a conference on Saturday in Ho Chi Minh City, where Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the planning was done with a breakthrough approach, mindset, and methodology to solve problems of Ho Chi Minh City.

Prime Minister Chinh suggested that planning create wealth and material. He called on Ho Chi Minh City to focus on building mechanisms and policies, mobilizing all resources, including state capital, private capital, public-private partnership, direct and indirect investment, and resources from international financial centers.
The city also needs to increase human investment, attract talent, and pay attention to social security policies, PM Chinh said, emphasizing the connection of economic development space between Ho Chi Minh City and the regions and between Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.

The Prime Minister underlined the pioneering tasks of developing strategic infrastructure, including transport, digital, cultural and educational infrastructure, adding that Ho Chi Minh City needs to pioneer in innovation, science and technology, and digital transformation as well as pioneer in attracting, training, and developing high-quality human resources.
HCM city aims for an annual GRDP growth rate of 8.5 to 9%, according to the planning. The city’s per capita GRDP is projected to be 14,800-15,400 USD by 2030.
Commercially, the goal is to make Ho Chi Minh City the e-commerce center of the southeast region, boost trade and sync it with industrialization, and maximize the benefits of globalization. Logistics services will be developed by strengthening regional connectivity and building strong enterprises.
Socially, the city’s population is predicted to be 11 million by 2030 and 14.5 million by 2050. Its Human Development Index (HDI) is over 0.85. The urbanization rate is over 90%. All communes are set to meet the new rural model standards. The city’s poverty line will be twice the national standard by the end of 2030, with basically no more poor households according to the national standard and less than 0.5% poor households according to the city's standard.
