IAEA warns of nuclear disaster as Israel-Iran conflict enters 8th day

(VOVWORLD) - Rafael Grossi, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Friday warned that an Israeli attack on an Iranian nuclear facility could spread radiation, leading to a dangerous nuclear disaster for the entire region.

The warning came as Israel and Iran entered their eighth consecutive day of deadly strikes. Both sides have launched multiple long-range raids against each other using modern weaponry.

The Israeli Air Force had launched a new attack on Iran, targeting the Iranian missiles in its western region, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Friday. 15 Israeli fighter jets reportedly dropped 30 bombs on Iranian missile depots and positions. International media in Iran reported consecutive raids by Israeli fighter jets and drones on Friday across Iran, including the capital Tehran.

Meanwhile, Iran conducted two rounds of ballistic missile attacks and many drone assaults on Israel. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the deployment of hypersonic missiles to attack Israel, claiming heavy damage to strategic facilities in Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Beersheba.
