(VOVWORLD) - Iran’s representative to the United Nations announced on Friday that more than 1,330 civilians had been killed in the conflict with the United States and Israel that erupted a week earlier.
The figures were released by Iranian Ambassador Amir Saeid to reporters at the UN headquarters in New York. The casualties Iran has suffered in the seven days of conflict are nearly one and a half times higher than those recorded during the 12-day conflict with Israel last June.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump declared on Friday that the United States would not sign any agreement with Iran unless it amounted to “unconditional surrender.” In a post on social media, President Trump said that once Iran selects one or more new leaders “acceptable” to the international community, the United States and its allies will coordinate efforts to help the country avoid a severe crisis and promote economic recovery.
