(VOVworld) - The Islamic State (IS) blew up a church in Hasaka city in northeastern Syria while Syria’s Christian minority was observing Easter celebrations on Sunday. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the 80-year-old Virgin Mary Church is one of the 3 largest churches in Tal Nasra town.
IS burned down Tal Hurmoz church, one of the oldest in Syria, in February and destroyed three others in Hasaka. Syrian officials said IS has damaged many of Syria’s historical and archeological relic sites, including six UNESCO-recognized world heritages.
