Addressing a working session in Hanoi on Tuesday on proposed revisions to some decrees on the fisheries sector, Mr. Ha stressed that strict enforcement of IUU regulations is essential for sustainable fisheries management.
Amendments to fisheries-related decrees, he noted, should take a long-term and comprehensive approach, prioritizing key measures to lift the European Commission’s "yellow card."
These measures include sustainable fisheries management based on fishing grounds and spawning seasons, streamlining administrative procedures for fishing vessels using vessel monitoring system (VMS) data and electronic logs, and establishing a closed-loop system to manage data on fishing fleets, buyers, and processors to ensure seafood traceability.
