Kato said that the Japanese government is looking into the details of a new intercontinental ballistic missile and other weapons that North Korea showcased at a military parade to mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of its ruling party on Saturday.
Japan will continue to work closely with the US and others to gather and analyze all necessary information and maintain maximum surveillance, Kato said.
