Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations held for disadvantaged children nationwide

(VOVWORLD) - A Mid-Autumn Festival was held on Saturday in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak province, as part of the program "Lanterns light up dreams" organized by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation.

At the festival, the children were treated to lion dances and art performances and met online with their peers from Hai Phong city, Lam Dong, Binh Duong, Tien Giang province, and Ho Chi Minh City.

1,700 gift sets including scholarships, bicycles and Mid-Autumn Festival toys were presented to disadvantaged children in Dak Lak province.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh told the event that he hopes the children would continue to make efforts in studying, stay united, and help those in difficult circumstances, especially those who are suffering the severe consequences of Typhoon Yagi and subsequent landslides and floods.

On Saturday afternoon, 500 children orphaned by the Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City enjoyed a Mid-Autumn Festival jointly organized by Saigontourist Group and Thanh Nien Newspaper.

As 2024-2025 school year has just begun, multiple activities have been held from September 10 to 21 to honor and reward excellent students of the previous academic year and present scholarships to tens of thousands of children of Trade Union members, disadvantaged workers, and workers in boarding houses in the city.

The Mid-Autumn Festival program has been organized for seven consecutive evenings since September 10 for 6,500 students and children of workers in the Export Processing and Industrial Zones in Ho Chi Minh City.
