Moscow: North Korea not among countries to be defended against nuclear attack

(VOVWORLD) - Russia's Federation Council Deputy Chairman Ilyas Umakhanov said North Korea is not among the allies that Moscow must defend against a nuclear attack staged by a third country.

Russia’s RIA news agency on Monday quoted Umakhanov as saying Russia’s allies are countries that have established an alliance with Russia through international accords, including the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a military alliance of Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. He noted that Russia does not have any such agreement with North Korea.
