Myanmar extends state of emergency for another six months

(VOVWORLD) -Myanmar's National Defense and Security Council on Wednesday decided to extend the state of emergency in the country for six more months, the state-run Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) reported. 

At the Council's meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw, all members present agreed to extend the emergency period.

Myanmar declared the state of emergency in February 2021 for one year before making five six-month extensions until July 31 this year.

The National Defense and Security Council meeting also discussed matters related to election preparations, current development work, preparations for national population and housing census, and education, health and agricultural sectors.
