At a reception for US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper on Monday in Hanoi, Mr. Phuong suggested that the Ambassador and the Embassy continue to strengthen connectivity, cooperation, and technology transfer, and support Vietnam to become a regional high-tech hub and an important link in the global semiconductor supply chain. He expressed his hope that the United States will soon recognize Vietnam’s market economy status and remove Vietnam from the strategic export control list.
Ambassador Knapper reiterated the United States’ wish to closely coordinate with Vietnam to effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework on all pillars, boost high-level contacts, expand substantive cooperation in areas such as economics-trade-investment, education-training, defense-security and overcoming the consequences of war.
The US will work with Vietnam in its efforts to achieve socio-economic development goals, the Ambassador said and pledged to continue his efforts in coordinating US agencies and Vietnam to carry out practical and meaningful activities on the 30th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral diplomatic relations this year.
