(VOVworld) – With an 84% majority vote, the National Assembly passed Friday a revised Penal Code which stipulates that the minimum age of criminal responsibility is between 14 and 16. Under the revision, which takes effect July 1, 2016, the death penalty will be abolished for seven crimes: surrendering to the enemy, resisting order, destruction of projects of national security importance, robbery, drug possession, drug appropriation, and the production and sale of fake food. The revised law will also spare the lives of those who are 75 years old or older.
