In his opening remarks at a symposium in Hung Yen province on Thursday, Prof. Dr. Thang, who is also Chairman of the Central Council on Theoretical Studies, reviewed milestones in the revolutionary career of Party leader Nguyen Van Linh from 1929, when he first joined the revolutionary movement, to 1986, when he was elected General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

According to Prof. Dr. Thang, Mr Linh and the Politburo introduced key policies aimed at stabilizing Vietnam and implemented three major programs dealing with food and agriculture, consumer goods, and export products.

These initiatives played a pivotal role in shifting the economic mechanism, paving the way for transformation, and providing momentum for the development of productive social forces.

“Taking on major roles, in every position and circumstance, comrade Nguyen Van Linh remained steadfast to his ideals,” said Thang, adding, “He always placed the interests of the nation and people above all and was a shining example of revolutionary ethics, frugality, integrity, selflessness, and impartiality. In his 70 years of revolutionary service, his life and career were closely intertwined with the glorious history of the Party and nation and the cause of national renewal.”

“Inheriting the legacy of Party chief Linh and his generation of leaders, the Party, people, and armed forces of Vietnam vow to stay united, move forward, and vigorously accelerate Vietnam’s renewal with fresh determination and action. We are confident that we can overcome all difficulties and challenges ahead,” Thang noted.

Themed “Comrade Nguyen Van Linh, a resolute and creative leader of the Vietnamese Party and revolution”, the symposium celebrated the 110th birth anniversary on July 1 of the late Party chief.
