(VOVWORLD) -Overseas Vietnamese-related work will be carried out more comprehensively and robustly, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang.

Hang, who is also Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, addressed the closing ceremony of the 4th World Conference on Overseas Vietnamese and the Forum on Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts on Thursday, in Hanoi.

The Vietnamese community abroad will continue to grow in number, expand in area, and become more diverse, continue to integrate deeply into the host society in all aspects and become an important resource contributing to Vietnam's development, she said.

The Deputy FM expressed her hope that OVs will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, mutual love, law compliance and active integration, contributing to the development of the host locality. She also called for efforts to preserve national identity and Vietnamese language, contribute intelligence and strength to the cause of building and developing the homeland. During that process, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will continue to work with and support the community, said Hang.

On this occasion, the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ certificates of merit and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese’s commendations were presented to individuals and groups in Vietnam and overseas who have made significant, exemplary contributions to OV-related work, including the Voice of Vietnam’s World Service.
